POSITION
Marketing and Communications Coordinator
 
REPORTS TO
VP of Operations
 
 
OBJECTIVES
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for promoting the Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce, its members, business services, programs, events and brand by development and execution of an external marketing and communications plan and strategy that supports the goals and objectives of the organization.
 
The successful candidate for the position of Marketing and Communications Coordinator must be an expert in written and verbal communication. Responsible for continually expanding the range of Chamber communications to include all forms of electronic and printed communications to ensure effective, timely and comprehensive communication of information on the Chamber. Developing and executing marketing campaigns, contribute editorial content and/or support the creation and production of printed materials for the Business Voice magazine, newsletters, press releases, ads and brochures, special events planning, projects and video production.
 
The individual must possess a thorough understanding of website management, marketing, and public relations. The position demands an eye for detail, extreme accuracy with the written word, and the ability to work under pressure and on deadline as part of a team. A candidate with a bachelor’s degree (and/or related experience) and demonstrated success in communication, marketing, graphic design, and production of publications is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing and Communications Planning and Research 
  • Designs, develops, implements and oversees a comprehensive marketing and communications plan for the Chamber, monitors its effectiveness and reviews and updates the plan on an annual basis
  • Oversees the development, maintenance and enhancement of the Chamber’s overall branding
  • Continually reviews and recommends ways to improve and enhance internal and external communications
 
Marketing and Communications Materials
  • Oversees all aspects of the Chamber’s marketing and communications program, including the Business Voice magazine, corporate newsletter, website, annual report, website and other materials and publications
  • Coordinates internal and external advertising
  • Develops advertising strategies for members
  • Maintains an accurate media list and pitch relevant stories to local media outlets
  • Oversees the preparation, printing and distribution for all Chamber publications
  • Assures adequate communication of Chamber activities (i.e. policy positions approved by the Board of Directors, new member benefits, website representation) to the membership, community, media, and elected officials.
  • Develops and maintains graphic standards for the Chamber
  • Provides creative and graphic support for Chamber programs and events
  • Coordinates the image management for photos and other graphics
  • Takes photographs at most Chamber programs and events
 
Digital Oversight
  • Serves as the website administrator to complete updates/post photos as necessary
  • Develops social media strategies and oversee all social media sites (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube)
 
Other Responsibilities
  • Attains expertise in ChamberMaster to run reports, promote events, update website, etc.
  • Coordinates, sets agenda, and attends assigned committee meetings
  • Other duties as assigned aimed at aiding in the communication, branding and marketing efforts
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, general business or related field of study
  • Minimum of three years relevant experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the Saskatoon business community and Chamber
  • Ability to set and meet goals
  • Computer proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, survey tools and database software.
  • Experience with Design Software (InDesign and Photoshop preferred)
  • Journalism experience
  • Layout and design skills
