Vivian Krause is a Canadian researcher and writer who has followed the money behind environmental and elections activism. Her work has generated more than 100 media stories, including front-page coverage in The Globe and Mail and The National Post. Most recently, Vivian's work was profiled by Wendy Mesley on CBC's, The Weekly.
Vivian gives a compelling presentation in which she makes the case that the energy industry is the target of a multi-million dollar U.S.-funded campaign that explicitly aims to land-lock Canadian oil and gas, keeping Canada out of overseas markets. Vivian provides a practical, constructive roadmap for how industry can deal with the activism against it.
Vivian has testified to committees of the House of Commons and the Senate. Her work has prompted investigations by Elections Canada and a CRA audit of the political activity of registered charities. Of the 42 audited charities,41 were ruled as non-compliant by the CRA.
Trained in nutrition, Vivian holds a Science degree from McGill University and a Masters of Science from the Université de Montréal.She has worked on diabetes with the Algonquin people in Northern Quebec and spent a decade with the United Nations in Guatemala and Indonesia. Upon her return to Canada, Vivian joined the salmon farming industry. Her experience with the campaign against that industry enabled her to see parallels between the activism against forestry, aquaculture, and the anti-pipeline Tar Sands Campaign against the Canadian oil and gas industry.
