CANDIDATES BIOS

Conservative Party of Canada
Randy Hoback, M.P., Prince Albert
Deputy Shadow Minister for International Trade Diversification    
Randy Hoback is the Member of Parliament for the riding of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He was first elected to office in 2008 and currently sits on the House of Commons Standing Committee on International Trade.  He also serves as Chair of the Saskatchewan Caucus of the Conservative Party of Canada. 

Randy has previously served as Official Opposition Critic for Canada/US Relations, both Chair and Vice-Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on International Trade, and as a member of the Standing Committees on Finance, Defence, Natural Resources, and Agriculture & Agri-Food. 

As a parliamentarian, Randy has developed a profound interest in the governance and economic potential of the Americas and became involved in Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the Americas (FIPA, now known as ParlAmericas since 2011). In February 2011, he was elected President of FIPA at the Association’s 8th Annual FIPA-ParlAmericas in Asuncion, Paraguay and now serves the organization’s Past-President. 

Prior to running for office, Randy managed his family’s farm and developed a custom spraying and trucking business. During this time, he served as Chair of the Western Canadian Wheat Growers’ Association and represented the organization at multiple World Trade Organization meetings. 

 
Green Party of Canada
Jan Norris, Saskatoon- University
Though her mother was from Saskatchewan Jan Norris grew up in Ontario. She has a BA in Philosophy from Trent University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the U of S. Jan moved to Saskatoon 30 years ago with her husband and two very young boys in order for him to go to graduate school here.
 
Before she had kids she worked in the graphics office of a small publishing house in Los Angeles and as a cook in New York City. Here in Saskatoon she works part-time as an art teacher and part-time as a property manager, while continuing to paint whenever she can.

She has been a volunteer with and served on the Boards of both the Saskatchewan Environmental Society and the Sierra Club of Canada, and is a founding member of the Saskatoon Peace Coalition.  
 
 
Liberal Party of Canada  
Tracy Muggli, Saskatoon- Grasswood
Tracy Muggli is an accomplished community leader with over 30 years of experience in the social services, education, and health care sectors in Saskatchewan. Tracy is hoping to serve our community once again as the next Member of Parliament for Saskatoon – Grasswood. 

Tracy taught for over 13 years with the University of Regina’s Faculty of Social Work and led in the development of Saskatoon’s Newcomer Information Centre. A dedicated advocate for mental health, Tracy has served as Director of Mental Health & Addiction Services with the Saskatchewan Health Authority where she worked tirelessly to deliver exceptional care to people struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. 

She is also a longtime community volunteer and strong supporter of Reconciliation initiatives, being a founding board member that delivered the Community Fund for Reconciliation with the Saskatoon Community Foundation.She has been the recipient of multiple awards for community service, including the Badge Award for distinguished service from Saskatoon Police Services for her work on the development of the Police & Crisis Team (PACT). She received her Master's in Social Work from Carleton University and also counts among her alma mater St. Peter's College, University of Saskatchewan, and the University of Regina. Tracy is a long-time resident of the Avalon neighborhood where she is raising her son Ayden.


New Democratic Party
Erika Ritchie, Saskatoon- Grasswood
Erika Ritchie has been a Saskatoon resident since 1976. She attended the University of Saskatchewan, where she obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical and environmental engineering. Her career as a professional engineer and organizational leader has spanned both the public and private sectors in Saskatchewan, offering her unique insights into public policy concerns. Throughout her career Erika has advocated for environmental and climate protection, social justice and sustainable resource development. Most recently her work has focused on renewable energy, international development and promoting democracy.
 
As a dedicated community organizer and environmental advocate, Erika has participated and led a wide-range of local, provincial and national level boards, committees and service-based organizations. She served on the board of RoadMap 2020 - a locally based sustainability enterprise; was board member and vice-president for the Unitarian Congregation of Saskatoon, and chaired the Environment Committee for the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS). She has been a volunteer advisor to the Saskatoon Community Foundation, the City of Saskatoon Environmental Advisory Committee, the Canadian Chemical Producers Association, and the SES Solar Cooperative. In support of her children’s activities, Erika has been an active member of Sask Athletics and Scouts Canada. This past June Erika was nominated to the board of the Saskatoon Cooperative Association.


People’s Party of Canada
Mark Friesen, Saskatoon-Grasswood
Mark Friesen was raised in Saskatoon and has lived most of his 47 years in the same riding, Saskatoon Grasswood. Mark is currently a small business owner in Saskatoon, prior to that he served his country in uniform for 25 years as a Corrections Officer in both Provincial and Federal Corrections. Mark is married to a Norwegian immigrant and has 3 adult children. Mark has always shared and supported the conservative values of small government, lower taxes, individual freedom and liberty. Mark has strong sense of pride in his country and wishes to help ensure Canada regains, maintains, and protects its sovereignty, culture, and prosperity.  Mark will represent his constituents and the People’s Party of Canada with courage and conviction.

Understanding What Matters Most to Members

The Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce holds its inaugural Chamber SUMMIT for members to convene and raise the most pressing issues facing their businesses today. The SUMMIT brings together representatives from across our diverse business community and generates strategic discussions on critical items that will assist the Chamber in forming its advocacy plan.
